Potable water tanks require waterproofing systems that meet stringent hygiene and safety specifications, as they are in constant contact with water intended for human consumption. The waterproofing must provide full protection against leaks and moisture ingress into the structural element, while being chemically neutral, nontoxic and certified for contact with drinking water according to the relevant sanitary requirements. In parallel, the system must withstand permanent hydrostatic pressures, thermal variations and micromovements of the substrate, without cracking, debonding or loss of properties.
The two component, flexible cementitious system Revinex® Flex 2006 has been tested by the General State Laboratory of Greece for suitability in drinking water contact, and is an ideal option, providing long term protection on horizontal and vertical tank surfaces and effectively withstanding thermal movements and vibrations.
